STORY
Candy Coated leans into the boldest end of the Stratified Palms spectrum, utilizing a fluorescent pink border to create a “window” into a stylized coastal landscape. This work is about the joy of color and the tension between synthetic brightness and organic forms. By layering contrasting temperatures—cool blues against warm yellows and hot pinks—the piece vibrates with a sense of sun-drenched nostalgia.
While the colors are loud, the composition remains grounded in the series’ exploration of hidden history. The thick, tactile surface invites the viewer to look past the “sweet” exterior to see the raw, physical labor of the paint application beneath.
PROCESS
